can you make a pot's action looser?

What's Hot
either by dismantling or spraying something inside?

I like them really light touch

Try spraying a lot of contact cleaner in. That often makes them looser whether you want it to or not...

Contact cleaner will loosen them up but I find they can stiffen up again quite quickly afterwards. I like to use Servisol contact cleaner first and then follow up with some spray vaseline which I posted about some years ago here ...

Isn’t the resistance caused by the grease on between the back of the rotary disc damping the torque against the rear casing? If so just take the back off and remove some of the grease.
    Karma......

Spend 5 or 10 minutes rotating the pot quickly between min & max position - usually works
    Seemed like a good idea.....

Swap them for Bourns Low Friction pots.

They are usually under the EVH brand in the UK.

I've got one in my strat and it is way easier to move

They come in 250 and 500

Might be a silly question, but is there any way to do the opposite? I.e. I have a tone pot that had barely any mechanical resistance, is there any way to add any?

Take off the knob, put a small disc of foam over the spindle, put the knob back on.

Use Servisol “Super 10”. It’s a contact cleaner + lubricant. It’s managed to loosen up every pot I’ve used it on with just a small dose.
