Hi everyone,
my brother is coming over to visit for a few weeks - we live apart (me in UK, him in South America), but we both play some guitar and jam when we get together. Sometimes this descends into slightly drunken sing-songs at family parties!
Anyway, while we can jam on blues riffs all day, I'm trying to put together a list of actual songs that will sound good on two guitars and need some suggestions. There are all the obvious party classics (American Pie and what have you), but I'm specifically looking for songs with two clearly separated guitar parts, like maybe a riff or a melody line over some chords or a song with a memorable bassline that can be played on guitar. Songs that you might struggle to play by yourself but would sound fun and natural with two people playing. I've started a list (below) from some bands we're both into but I feel like I'm probably missing some really obvious ones. If anyone can assist it would be much appreciated!
Pixies - Here Comes Your Man, Where Is My Mind
REM - Try Not To Breathe, Man on the Moon
Radiohead - No Surprises
Beatles - Norwegian Wood, Ballad of John and Yoko (for the bassline)
CCR - Lodi, Looking Out My Back Door, Down on the Corner
Prince - Raspberry Beret
Bowie - Man Who Sold The World
Stones - Satisfaction
Thin Lizzy - Whiskey in the Jar
Smashing Pumpkins - Today
Manic Street Preachers - Motorcycle Emptiness
Michael Jackson - Billie Jean (for the bassline again)
Any genre/era considered.
Thanks a bunch!
