I’ve had a few Columbus guitars over the years but never seen a Mustang copy, usually they’re Strat, Les Paul or SG types. Columbus were really sort of second division Japanese copies but lots of them have stood the test of time unlike your guitar which is in need of major surgery. I’ll be interested to see how the work progresses, things are looking good so far.

In short, body neck plate holes dowelled, neck heel dowelled and 2 x TRC screws extracted and plugged. Headstock split dowelled. Vibrato and bridge acquired. Pickguard on its way.

I have a Columbus Mustang among other Columbus guitars. I've rewired the switching so that it has out of phase as per the original Fender Mustang......sounds pretty good I reckon. Not getting the hang of putting a pic up yet.
