Just got back from seeing Marcus Miller in Guildford (courtesy of Anderton's who sell his Sire signature bass).
AMAZING. What a player, what a guy. Hugely entertaining and informative, wonderful stories about Miles, Jaco, Larry Graham and more.  And he really wanted to play - and did! Stunning stuff.
Sound wasn't good TBH but I got used to it.
I didn't get a pic with him (I'm too old to have a smartphone) but got him to sign some LPs and CDs; his own "Sun Don't Lie", a couple of Sanborns ("my favourite" he said as he signed the "Upfront" CD booklet) and my LP copies of "Tutu" and "We Want Miles".  A very nice man indeed.
Well worth £10.

Great and I wish I'd gone (some mates attended).

As a Sire user, I'd love to hear what he had to say about his range and what he was coaxing out of it and how he was setting the preamp controls.

Was he using his signature gear i.e. Sire basses and Markbass amps?

Good to hear he lived up to expectations. One of my favourite players - ideal to see him in a small/informal situation.

Wow, I'd gladly have gone for £10! He is a superb bassist, I have him on so many records - Sanborn, Miles Davis, Vandross, Grover Washington jr, Dave Gruisin ...

He is no slouch on woodwinds and arranging either. :)
You say, atom bomb. I say, tin of corned beef.

    Oh yes.

One question was something like "who were your most important influences?"
His father (a pianist like his uncle, Wynton Kelly)
    Miles Davis
Luther Vandross (who encouraged him to write/compose)
    David Sanborn.
