Cheap refinish option?

Looking for a cheap refinish option for a cheap yamaha pacifica that I fancy a colour change on. What's the cheapest and easiest option? If I only have to sand/key the original finish a bit, rather than strip, that would be preferable.

The cheapest/easiest option is to do exactly that, key the finish with something like 240 grade sandpaper and use spray cans to go over the top.  You can then get hard wearing spray on poly from halfords if you want to coat it.

What colour is the guitar at the moment? With masking tape, you could do a Van Halen stripes finish.

Cheapest of all. Lots of stickers.
