Tele convert...........

I've always been a strat type of chap - love the shape, sound, flexibility and sheer playability......... but........

Bought a tele on here a while ago, played it a bit. Went back to the strat. Bought another expensive superstrat, almost sold the tele............. picked up tele again.......

Now my go to guitar.  Love the feel, the neck, the weight (7lb) and the sound. Almost exclusively on the bridge single coil but it sounds fab for jams, functions and the rock band.

Think I'm a convert..........

Same story for me. Got my first strat aged 11 and played stats until last year when I tried a 52 custom shop relic at vintage and rare in Bath. I've now had 5 teles since then, and my have two as my main gigging guutars. As much as I love the look of a strat, teles just sound better, feel better, play better, are better. In my opinion of course.

I have a mixed relationship with my 1989 US Standard Tele. Sometimes I just love it, other times I think it's 'OK'. Must be a mood thing.  :)
I started out with nothing..... but I've still got most of it left (Seasick Steve)

It always surprises me every time I think about this, but if I was to keep just one of my guitars (or sell them all and splurge on one expensive one), it'd most likely be a Tele.

Just the sheer versatility of it, even with vintage style pickups. Blues, pop, jazz, all out rock on the bridge, no problem. Easy to mod, easy to maintain. Leo got it right first time I think.

Close second would be an SG with P90s, which is not miles removed from a Tele in ethos when you think about it.

Similar story here. My first "proper" guitar was a US Standard Strat, which i still have but for the last few years I'm much happier playing either of my two Tele's - a Japanese 50's upgraded with US vintage reissue pups and a Baja. There's something really solid about tele's both in feel and sound and they're really versatile. I'd like to try a Thinline....

Have 5 electrics but if it had to be one it’d be some sort of tele I think. My AV 52 is great but I’d have the fretboard radius flattened if it was to be the only one.

i love the concept and simplicity of the telecaster design. Ive had the standard mexican, the squire, the Baja but the only one i really bonded with long term was the fender (chinese made) modern player, which to my mind isnt really like a traditional tele, having 3 pickups and the contoured belly cut but there you go

  • Teles are ace. As others have commented, if I had to keep just one of my guitars it would be my Tele. My Strat and LPs are prettier to look at but the Tele is such a joy to play and is so versatile
