I'm working on a video for tFB. How much of a "features" breakdown do you want versus just straight up guitar playing using whatever effect?

Bye!

  • Oh, and do you want "you could use it in these cool ways...." kind of demonstrations too ?

    Bye!

I would like demonstration plus explanation of the features plus the cool ways type demo's too - and maybe comparisons.

With nice chapter headings. And lots of detail but no talking. And I'd like there to be a cake which has also been eaten.
My Trade Feedback Thread is here

Been uploading old tracks I recorded ages ago and hopefully some new noodles here.

Really depends on the effect. Nothing worse than someone explaining the controls on a three knob overdrive. If it's more complex and has features that are non obvious then a bit of explanation is normally a good thing.

Just play the thing in its different modes. People can work out how to use it once they've bought it.

    Keep it short (sub 4mins)
    Dont talk
Dont just play pentatonic blues licks when using something like a synth pedal

In fact what would be awesome is if a pedal was picked,  then at the same settings, 5 guitarists played through it with their own rig so viewers got some proper insights into how it could sound across a range of rigs so different people couple identify with each of the different rigs accordingly.  Might have more appeal then.   In fact,  I think I've just invented a new type of channel.   I claim one space on the roster.

No talking. Just playing, and then cut to the pedal showing the settings every now and then.

Show the sound with chords, not just single note lines (my biggest gripe with most YouTube pedal reviews).

  • Personally, none of that. I'd prefer something original like interviews with members...let's take yourself for example, your approach to pedals, tones, your gear, the type of music you create and why you create it. Why you have an Orville, not a Gibson? That sort of thing. There are plenty of interesting people on here who I'd love to learn more about them and their philosophies than spend another half hour learning about a pedal that already has 100's of videos already. Just my opinion.

This would be cool, maybe a section about “members rigs” or something

To be honest, I don't even think it should be a "section". In order to have any sort of originality as a channel, dare I say it would probably be best as the main focus of the channel.

@WiresDreamDisasters @digitalscream what's your plan for TFB YouTube then? What do you want to achieve?

I'm not talking about this one video, I mean more broadly.

Broadly speaking, equipment reviews, interviews, round table discussions, tips and tricks, those are where our head are at right now. But it's all extremely early days. For myself I'm going into this slowly, not least of all because of ... *ahem* ... personality clashes... but let's see what happens!

    Bye!
