have to go a long way to beat Bill Hicks as best standup ever. I think Jim Jefferies is the best of the current crop (that I've seen) but he's no Bill.

I'm not locked in here with you, you are locked in here with me.

  • Bill Hicks is a hero, for sure. But he's dead now. Much like Jim Fix.

I wish Jim Jefferies was dead.

yeah, getting tickets to Bill Hicks gigs is tough now. I curse myself as I had the chance to see him in '92 (which I think was his last UK tour) but was skinter than a church mouse and thought I'd see him another time.

  • I was 8 years old in 92, and the height of comedy was the fart competitions and the wall-piss competitions we used to do at school.

    Bye!

I personally think Bill Hicks was reborn in Dylan Moran.

That guy is funny as fuck!

heh, I was 22. I was lucky enough to grow up in the 80's, with the whole comic strip presents and young ones thing, then I saw bill on TV about '90 and he just blew me away, just head and shoulders above so much else.

I saw him twice on that tour - the material in each show was almost entirely different. He was epic...

IMO, the closest thing to Bill Hicks is Doug Stanhope, well if Bill Hicks was a drunken bum.

George Carlin is up there for the finest comedians of all time, in terms of influence anyway.

I remember the Eddie Murphy video doing the rounds in the 80's when I was at school.

Just found it boring with too much swearing.

I love a good swear up, but only to emphasise the point. Chucking in the fucks every other word for an hour is just boring.

Beverley Hills Cope was a game changer for police movies.
