The Pretenders - Day After Day

I bought this single back in the day, not sure why, I didn't really like The Pretenders that much and I found Chrissie Hynde a little annoying and....I didn't fancy her.

...but....years later I love this song, love her voice and boy does the young Chrissie make me wanna...

and Pete Farndon look so cool on the bass, albeit off his tits.

"Round, round, around we go...just like yesterday"

I thought their first album was stunning, just an incredible debut largely thank to the amazing guitar work of James Honeyman Scott. His early death was just tragic.. such a waste. :anguished:
Just listen to him on Private Life, his soloing on this is just majestic.

That is great, I love James playing with the Gibson V and a Fender amp, it sounds like The Smiths. Anyone know what chorus he used? Boss CE2?

There are a couple of interviews online and he talks about an EHX Clone Theory.

Much a better/ more interesting band than the singles might suggest.

I think it's on Private Lives from the Rockpalast that Chrissie swears at the audience about taking her photo. Seems very dated now.

It's a great sound, and James is another beneficiary of the anybody-can-have-a-go punk era.

This is a good interview for those who are interested in the backstory of the band.
