Mesa Bookie MkV head with hardwood front panel.

If you know anything about Boogies, then this amp needs no introduction. It sounds fantastic and there are a bewildering range of sounds that can be had out of it. There are three channels, each with their own gain, master and EQ controls and each channel has three modes, so there are nine different configurations available. With the addition of the switchable graphic EQ and Solo modes, it’s a hugely versatile tone machine. The onboard spring reverb level is individually adjustable for each channel. The power is switchable from 90w to 45w to 10w on each channel, meaning that you can have high headroom on your clean sound at 90w, and power amp compression on your solo tone at 10w. Bonza! All of that is fabulous, however perhaps the best feature of the amp is that it has a post-master volume control. This means that you can play at home levels without blowing the windows out, and unlike most big valve amps, it still sounds and feels great to play. Why don’t all valve amps have this feature?

Sounds range from warm, shimmering, Fender-y clean tones to modern Rectifier-style rock, and everything in-between - there is nothing that this amp can't do.

The amp is in very good condition, and is in full working order. It comes with an 8-button footswitch that controls channel switching, reverb, EQ, FX loop and solo functions. Oh, I forgot to mention, you can set the effects loop to function on any one individual channel, or all three. Lastly, it will take 6L6 or EL34 power valves, and has 6L6’s at the moment.

More information can be had on the Mesa Boogie website. There are many reviews online and on YouTube if you want to check them out. I will be sad to see this amp go as it really does sounds great in all modes, however times change and bands change and I need something simpler, less powerful, and more portable.

Thanks for looking.
