Well, I've pushed the boat out and sprung for a bottle of F-One, £7.99 delivered from Richtone. If it turns the neck to mush and all the frets fall out I'll be back here with some serious tutting and finger wagging.

F-one is good and has as much of a darkening effect as fretdoctor (I have both). Wouldnt be surprised if they are virtually the same!

Walnut or a brazil nut rubbed over the board works quite well.
    This. Use a fresh walnut.

I should add, remember to take them out of their shells.

I use walnut oil from Waitrose. Just a little goes a long way.

I've used the wax that Monty's sell.

I don't think it's a substitute for the oils discussed above, but I found it really gave the rosewood board on my tele a nice buff up and feels nice under the fingers.

I will shout out for Music Nomad F-One Oil as well. Even though some Heathen on here called them "Snake Oil Salesmen" on another thread recently.

     :p  :)

I did all my Boards last November with the stuff, the stuff was about 5 years old and the boards feel great and look great. I'll use it again this year.

Just ask @Handsome_Chris about the stuff  :3

    Well, that worked!

F-One oil, very sparing. Drank it up. May repeat once I've played 'er in.

    Di Dario Hydrate. Brilliant stuff.

It conditions the fretboard, not strips it of oils like Lemon Oil (basically that's just Naptha, or petrol!)

The chap who sets up my guitars swears by Nomad now, when I run out of the Di Dario stuff I'll get that to try.

Fret doctor. Quality is remembered long after price is forgotten.

I think @RandallFlagg has a bottle of Gibson Pump Polish that he doesn't want
Too much gain... is just about enough \m/

I'm probably the only member of this forum mentioned by name in Whiskey in the Jar ;)

@RichardT , as someone who promotes the use of all the Music Nomad care products that I use (and have subsequently demonstrate), I would suggest that F-One Oil does not need to be used on that neck again for at least six months.  If you have any unfinished maple necks, treat them to the F-One Oil, it's totally safe.

May I say that is some lovely looking wood you have there?  If you want you want any tips on how to get a showroom finish on the rest of that beauty please feel free to PM me.

@Bellycaster , I believe that I've seen the "snake oil" comment that you referred to. Interestingly enough the post misquoted the Music Nomad source material, which could be considered deliberately misleading.

The important thing is that people are happy with what they use, which is cool.

Olive oil, sesame seed oil, walnut oil...
Basically any sort of oil, although I've never tried Castrol GTX.
Ballistol is good too. It was designed for treating everything from wood to guns.
