I have a friend in China who has asked me what this woman's accent is. Despite my degree in linguistics, I'm pretty clueless, although I did think Doncaster. Any ideas? It would be nice to satisfy her curiosity as well as my own:

Vaguely Northern -  Yorks/ Lancs? Like the voice of a housing officer on an episode of  Coronation Street.

Tipton is a small fishing village in the borough of Sandwell.

  • It's not a million miles away from a Stockport accent.

It's someone trying to put on a nasal Mancunian accent.

Bang on. I'll often see a  MILF in John Lewis in Cheadle  paying at the till who looks gorgeous and then you'll hear them speak like an actress out of Corrie.   B)    Ta Ra chuck.    :/

Big chunk of my family from Stockport but I didn't recognise it as such. Not saying it's not but it didn't grab me as that.

Sounds a bit like my neighbour from Sheffield. "Our Kid"

Edit: Except if it was my neighbour the bloke wouldn't have got a word in edgeways.

It’s not a London scent so it’s “northern”

It’s not an East Riding or South Yorkshire accent. Equally it doesn’t sound full on NW or Manc but it’s closer to that I’d say.

I'm thinking Cheshire, as it has some of the flatness of a Mancunian accent, but there's a hint of north Potteries to me.

Having said that, she's probably Welsh.
