Silver Jews frontman gone today, looks like it might have been by his own hand, possibly not many of you will have known him but a very interesting guy and a real shame. Just made a "comeback" as well. Guess he couldnt handle it. RIP.

Oh no! I loved his work. I was just watching more of his stuff on youtube the other day and been playing his new album a lot. Balls. An amazingly witty and insightful lyricist. Sad news.

Was just reading his interview in Quiet and Loud magazine, he seemed to be living in a spare room at his record label HQ (Drag City Records) to be a bit less isolated, really shocked at this news.

The Purple Mountains record is really great. The lyrics are so dark, yet really funny. 

"If no ones fond of fucking me, maybe no ones fucking fond of me..."

In the context of his split with Cassie it's heartbreaking, but somehow depressingly inevitable. So glad I got to see him a few times the last time Silver Jews were here.

What a sad sad bit of news. His struggle with his father and the way this ended is of almost mythological proportions. Such a talented man whose lyrics and writing simply told the bare truth about what is going on out there but also how deeply depressed he was.  One of a kind.
