I had a ticket for Knebworth in 1979 but couldn't be arsed to go.

For me, the one gig regret I have is not going to see Peter Gabriel on his Secret World Tour in the 90s.

So many amazing musicians at the top of their game and some superb songs with a really inventive set.

My first ever gig was Led Zeppelin at Earls Court 1975.

I don’t get them. There are parts of songs I like but that’s about it. Time and place and maybe a generational things perhaps to appreciate them?

I wouldn't put that strongly and have a kind of nostalgic curiosity about the sound of Led Zeppelin now, though I hated them at the time.

I've never regretted not using my Knebworth ticket, but wouldn't have missed Motorhead the same year for the world.

The screechy singing always put me off them.

  • The unashamed plagiarism and Jimmy Page's 14 year old girlfriend completely put me off to be honest.

  • Having watched some of the vid, I have to agree NOT. Thanks all the same.
I'm not a hater of the band. I have a couple of albums. Just fussy I s'pose.

I've tried to get into them over the years. I can manage about ten minutes before I get bored.

Plant and Krauss, now that's a gig I would like to see.

This. I’ve got the albums too, but that performance is horrible even by the usual standards of Plant’s screechy voice and Page’s posturing - laboured pretentious rock wankery at its worst.

It makes you appreciate why punk was such a breath of fresh air.

I went, you're right to regret it ! I could possibly have gone to LZ in Earls Court 1975, but couldn't afford it :(

This is a pretty good cover (with Bonzo Jnr)

Imagine something sharp and witty here ......

Tough crowd! I wasn’t born in ‘79 so the closest I’ll get is watching celebration day on the big cinema screen when released a few years back. That was awesome. Sadly that  ship has long since sailed without a follow up tour.

I’m always surprised that in light of the spate of celebrity allegations, operation yew tree and clearly shifting public opinion, that there hasn’t been more focus on Page. Particularly, as his tastes are so openly in the public domain.

I saw Bobby on one of his solo tours which I have fond memories of.
I like a bit of Led Zep but so many of their songs need a bit of an edit, the ideas are stretched past breaking point ( not Stairway as it happens).
The plagiarism is a bit of revisionism as it was what a lot of bands were doing at the time, and pop has continued to eat itself.
I probably would have liked to have been there, but a big gig with 1970s PA and lighting so I don't know how good it can have been past the first twenty rows.

I'm not particularly convinced that punk was trying to knock LZ off their block, some of them wanted to be LZ if anything. There was a lot of insipid middle of the road pop in the 70s and that and some of the proggier outfits ( I remember Phil Collins saying Genesis couldn't get arrested in the UK following punk) were more the targets. Although X Factor eventually gave us the insipid pop back again.
