Don’t often do NGD threads as they inevitably end up in classifieds as a result of my own GAS, trying not to do that this time. There is also the fact that one of these has not yet arrived so hopefully not jinxing things by posting a NGD thread on an incoming guitar. Anyway here goes

1968 Gibson ES-355

1962 Gibson J45

That J-45 is really nice... I used to have a ‘61 very like it, which is probably my biggest regret of any guitar I’ve ever sold.

The 355 is very Bernard Butler too!

Excellent use of money which could otherwise have been tragically wasted on living expenses. Enjoy!!

  • Absolutely stunning.  :o  Has the 355 got the thinner nut? I love that they've both got nice clean head stocks.
Hate chewed head stocks on vintage gits.

    Congrats, I have a 65 J45 which is just a wonderful sound.

If you're interested, mine had the adjustable bridge - Feline made a new bridge for me which is a drop in part (meaning takes two minutes to get it back to original with no damage at all) and improved the sound quite a bit (louder and a bit more rounded to my ears).

Once in a while I fancy a Martin, then I play the J45 and - it's all you need!

    Thanks guys

@NorthernGooner I expect it will have the narrow nut although there are some exceptions. I had a 68 J200 with standard nut but my assumption is narrow.

    I remember the 65 J45, I found it for you  ;)

Thanks for the tip on the bridge, got a couple of other things I want done as the frets need attention and I want a pickup installed (only because it’s already drilled for one) so may get it all done at once.
