Light relic on my Partscaster. Dickie Holland made the body. I think he sticks them in the freezer to get the nitro to craze. Looks great in the flesh but hard to photo when you're as talented as photographer as me.imageimage

This is a my real 1949 Gibson L4C, a true vintage guitar. Fakes are a joke, you're paying good money for faults.

Just imagine the stories those guitars would have to tell if they weren't fakes. All fur coat and no knickers.

I'm not really bothered how old or how much "mojo" a guitar has, especially if that means a greatly inflated price. I just want a guitar that plays well and feels good.

Just because my guitar isn't old, doesn't mean it's not a great storyteller :p

I'm pretty sure my SG has always gone commando, but there's no way it ever had a fur coat.

  • There always seems to be polarised discussion regarding them. I love ones that look like an old guitar. I hate ones that look like they've been attacked by a maniac..
    Just thought I'd share mine.

Unless they have a VERY exacting pattern for putting the 'wear' on, it may actually be that one...

I had a bass lesson a very long time ago. Can't remember the content of the lesson but I do remember the teacher's bass. It was a Jazz copy (err,no I can't recall the brand...) that he'd had fixed up by Jaydee with Jaydee pick ups. The bass had a maple board and black block inlays which was a look I'd never seen at that point and I thought was a bit Wow. So, I have a soft spot for that look.

Vintage also used to ( maybe still do) make a Jaco tribute style Jazz bass which must have been one of the first purposefully reliced guitars I was ever aware of.
