howdy folks,
due to our singers bronchiole/lack of ability troubles, we’ve decided to tune down a half step to take the strain off him and the audience.
since doing so , I’ve found the A string tuned to g# is causing a nasty vibration around the nut. Putting some pressure on the string behind the nut stops it. This is not confined to one bass or string type either. p bass has NYXL 45 105 and dimension has chromes 45 105. Both basses vibrate in the same way. Tuning back up to A or dropping to G also stops the vibration. Have tried wrapping the strings a couple of different ways but no joy.
a capo behind the nut seems to do the trick but not ideal.
Any ideas people?
cheers!

If its any consolation it likely won't be audible live.
The long term solution is either bigger strings or slackening the truss rod to achieve the same neck relief in Eb as you used to have in E.
The A string is the usual problem for this because the G and D have a string tree and the E has a steeper break angle anyway.

Install one of these on the tuner.

the vibration is audible when amplified too.
looks really professional.
