Thought i'd post these couple of stunners on here first as my LOL count is pretty poor.

First up is a 2013 Gibson Custom shop LPR7. Prior to arriving in the UK the guitar was treated to the Historic Makeovers Deluxe package costing $4500, which consisted of the following mods-

Vintage top carve
Vintage neck re profile
Hot hide glue neck reset
Braz Fretboard
Royalite binding
Cellulose nitrate inlays
Refinish and weather checking
Serial no re stamp in correct 50's font
Correct 50's style plastics, Tuners etc
Ltd Edition Wizz PAFS
8lb 8oz

Comes in original 1980 Cali Girl case.

All in all, a package that is capable of fooling most at 30 paces

£7500

Next up is a Gil Yaron Les Paul. This is Gils interpretation of a 59 Burst. Pretty sure most on here will be aware of the quality of his work.

Spec as follows-

Neck 0.89 x 0.98
Braz rosewood fretboard
Mild relic
NOS 50'S Wiring harness
Gil Yaron PAFS
Reclaimed maple top
Stunning top carve.

All in all, a package that is capable of fooling a lot of experts even on close inspection.

Nice fiddle, but that's a bold claim.

Sorry i see nothing special in either tbh, that kind of money I'd buy a player grade vintage special or goldtop
Everyones entitled to their opinion and all, but this just seems mean spirited in someones FS thread.

Yep it's very poor form and against classified rules. Thought @Danielsguitars would know better tbh
Agreed. Rainer’s a top bloke and If he says they’re good and you disagree no one is forcing you to buy.

Having seen the Goldtop in person, I would say that it is absolutely stunning and, unless you know your onions and have handled more than a few 50's Gibson Les Paul then it is utterly convincing. I will add that @rainer2859 is an absolute gentleman too. Best of luck mate, If I had the funds, that Goldtop would be with me this afternoon!

Sorry, but that's just ridiculous. I own a Historic Makeover Les Paul and the work they do is very fine indeed, but it would never fool an 'expert' as an original guitar.

  • That Gold top is stunning, really looks like a vintage guitar as opposed to relic'd. Sadly about 5k over my budget!

I didn’t say it would fool an expert, I said it was utterly convincing. When I saw it from across the room I thought it was genuine, on closer inspection it was obvious that it wasn’t. As much as any good replica can be. Apologies if my effusive language bothered you, I’ve handed the guitar, think it’s great, you’ve seen some pictures and questioned the seller at every turn, which as you know is frowned upon here, so why don’t we both just let Rainer get on with his sale

So it's utterly convincing, but only from across the room? Yes, exactly, I've seen some pictures, and even from those pictures I can tell that it would never pass for an original guitar.

I don't think I've undermined the seller's position - a Custom Shop Les Paul re-finished by Historic Makeovers is its own thing and a very fine thing indeed.

Correct, which all one can hope for from most replica's or aged guitar isn't it? And, just so we're clear, I have never said it would pass for an original guitar either :)

Beautiful guitars, good luck with the sale.

By ridiculing the description you are very much undermining the seller's position. Sure we can all agree or disagree with his opinion and description but this thread should be for genuine enquiries from genuinely interested buyers not for digs at the OP.
