Alesis Nitro Mesh kit - anyone used?

Decided to start learning drums with my lad and am looking into one of these as a practice kit. (Being able to rehearse with headphones being the key driver.) Any experience of them on here?

  • Yeah, my tutor has one. It's not bad, not as nice as my Roland TD17KVX, but obviously a good chunk cheaper and still feels pretty good for an e-kit. The only thing I really don't like is the small pads for the toms, but that's not a huge issue when you're starting.

Mesh is nicer against a stick than rubbery plastic. Some mesh is more convincing than others. Larger pads bring the possibility of usable zones across each head. Yer pays yer money and takes yer choice.

I recently bought the Roland TD1 DMK mesh kit - all the advice I got was that Roland were better than Alesis.

    Really pleased with them.

  • So, ended up buying a Roland HD3 on eBay. It’s a lovely solid feeling piece of kit for not too much money. Happy dad and happy son.
