This is the 53rd solo of the Month (SotM) Challenge.

The challenge is now open ends at midnight 24th October 2019.

Here's this month's backing track (you can download it from soundcloud).

https://soundcloud.com/thefretboard/sotm53-2019-10-windy-wednesday

Record your solo over the top of it and then submit it (ideally in mp3 format) to solos@theFB.co.uk
Also, feel free to comment on how you approached the solo, which will add a bit more interest and maybe we can learn something from each other.

This one is based on a suggestion by @steven70 in in the thread below in post dated September 17.

Discussion: A classic blues style track

Title: Windy Wednesday

Tempo 59 bpm

Chords
G9 / / /  C9 / / /  G9 / G#9 /  G9 / / /
C9 / / /  C9 / / /  G9 / Am7 /  Bm7 / Bbm7 /
Am7 / / /  Cm7 / / / G9 / C9 /  G9 / Daug /
G9

The backing track has some headroom to add your solos. Add your solo and (as a guideline) try to avoid boosting the overall level beyond that if possible. That way the entries should be at roughly the same level and we won't get into loudness wars.
Voting will start soon after the submission deadline, with each voter selecting their 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice.

First choice gets 5 points - Second choice gets 3 points - Third choice gets 1 point

The order and scores of the top three entries will be announced soon after the voting ends.
No prizes. It's just for fun.

As people submit their entries, I'll post them below to hopefully promote some discussion on approaches used for the solo:

I can widdle over the pentatonic all day, however every take i record thinking "hmm lets try to make this sound different" and it sounds exactly the same as the last take... Doh!  Got to get me some "feels"

My licks appear to be dustier than I had thought...when I play back a take it doesn't sound like it sounded in my head at the time:) All good learning.

Got it. I'll start a playlist after I get another entry. But I might not get chance to upload the playlist for at least a couple of days.

    It's not a competition.

Sent mine in. Not really a "blues" guy, but I actually really enjoyed having a go at this one.

  • Entered this time. I'm not totally fluent with Blues playing either, but it was good to try and craft something over those chords.

    Sent one in.

    Gibson SG
    Positive Grid BIAS FX
    Reaper

Tried to get the reverb sounding like I was in a blues club.  Not sure I succeeded.

I used the HX Stomp with a couple of pedals:

    Fat General
    Barber Half Gainer
    Skreddy Echo

With the HX Stomp providing an amp model, IR, and some light reverb.

    Thanks- some good stuff there!
Wish I'd been a little more patient now...some of my bends could do with the auto-tuner
    Hey ho...all good learning.

going to have a crack but will need to borrow a fixed-bridge guitar for what I have in mind.

@steven70 Ditto. I'm not used to bending with the weight of strings on the guitar I was using, and by the second or third take (I think I used the third), my hands were hurting, and I can hear some tuning issues.
