Blackstar Silverline

What's Hot
BluesLoverBluesLover Frets: 660
I was about to buy a Blackstar
ID15TVP for home use because size and controls on the front were exactly right for me, when prices started to get discounted. I thought perhaps a mk2 version is coming so I'll wait and see.

FAIL !! controls are now on the top.

This is something that massively pisses me off too.

Top-mounted controls had become more or less extinct by the 80s - they were restricted to vintage relics like Vox AC30s and occasionally practice amps - all modern, professional-quality amps had them on the front.

Now somehow they have become fashionable again...

It could've been worse - head could have them on top too :)

I see the cabs are loaded with Celestion Seventy-eighties - a thoroughly underwhelming choice.

Edit - it appears that this was wrong and they are in fact using V-Types, which are far better.

is just me?? but Blackstar started out really interesting and soon escalated into marketeering endless products rather than building a dedicated user base based upon a quality of tone and performance

    Still no effects loop either.

The bigger ones do have an effects loop. The aux in/phone out are dual purpose and can be switched to FX loop. This was confirmed in the Andertons video. Also the bigger ones have MIDI and Blackstar says it has a new midi controller coming soon.

Nope, it looks like the amps have the V type speakers installed as does the 2x12 cab.

Beyond the aesthetic choices. From the videos I watched they sounded Ok. the cleans sound good but they didn't really go all in on the driven sounds, plus i would like to know how well they handle pedals either in the front or in the loop.  I feel like these amps could be good competition to the Boss next tone series

Yeah look like nice V-type speakers.

Bit pricey though - competing with Katana.... by costing over £300 more.

TBF though, they are probably seeing the nuTube (Edit, not nu-tube, Nextone) amps more as their price point (Boss sold some...right?)

Sound good in Andertons demo though -

    £449 for a 100w head seems a good deal.

They sound good but I’d be interested in the touch dynamics. Never played a digital amp yet that gets the dynamics right for the clean to slight grit tones.

  • Sound decent to my ears. As always though, I'd want to play one in person as that's where I always notice the "faults" of digital, so to speak.
Just so people are aware. I have no idea what any of these words mean.

I wonder how much difference there is between these and the regular TVP's? I like the regular TVP's. The feature set is the same except for the speakers.
