Just joined a local band that does the pub gig scene.
The chap that runs it / bass player / singer is quite clearly mad, and mostly drunk, but I don't have any other prospects at the moment being knew to the area, so this is all i've got....
Any way, he's mad, and will not allow me to play a strat for whatever reason. I'm having to sell the Suhr Alt T Pro I recently picked up (circumstances), so i'm after the most versatile guitar that isn't a strat, for not a massive wad of cash.
Band plays anything from Steppenwolf to Queen to Hendrix to Oasis to the Kinks to the Spencer Davis Group - it's all very rocky, but quite varied.
Oh, and i'm completely allergic to the Les Paul.
What a people's thoughts on this? I was considering a Yamaha 611 or something along those lines.

This week's procrastination forum might be moved to sometime next week.

I'd go for something like one of the cheaper Gibson SG's. Nice and light, relatively versatile, isn't a Strat.
Failing that, Baja Tele, SG, some sort of 335 a like, or maybe a Jazzmaster?
And failing that, just turn up to rehearsal with one of these:

Let me know where you're playing as you're in Devon like me.
Wasn't sure whether to look at the 611 with the P90, or the 612 SSH...
My weapon of choice would be an Ibanez RG, which can comfortably do the strat 2 & 4 positions if necessary.
I'm sure you'll get plenty of suggestions for PRS, too.
Oh, and don't stop looking for another band. This one sounds doomed from the start. Best of luck though.
And i've never played a Tele that gives me the fizz. (Apart from the Suhr)
I wouldn't inflict this band upon anyone, but maybe when a better one comes up i'll let you know
But I get where you're going with the suggestion....
