You have a great setup there @GavRichList! I need to check out the digitone too. A Deckards Dream would be a dream synth, tbh.
Beware, the gaping chasm that is synth GAS. Tbh, I don’t touch my guitar these days at all, save for the occasional line or two in studio. Since I sold off the majority of my guitars and pedals to fund synth purchases, I’ve written far more than I ever have, and I get infinitely more pleasure from the sound design etc etc.

    But it all costs.

    I now have:

    - Deckards Dream
    - 2x Roli Seaboard Block
    - Elektron Analog 4 mk2
    - Elektron Digitone
    - Elektron Octatrack mk2
    - Arturia Keystep
    - Oberheim Two Voice Pro
    - Sequential Prophet 6
    - Roland D-50

...and have a Tasty Chips GR-1 on the way.

The message here is be prepared! Don’t just take my word for it; @meltedbuzzbox is creeping up on the outside lane too.
I'm really surprised you haven't been bitten by the Eurorack bug.

I've pared down a bit- got rid of all the old half broken things.
    My current synths are:

    1010 Music Blackbox
    Elektron Digitakt
    Elektron Octatrack II
    Elektron Analog Four II
    Elektron Analog Rhythm II
    Dave Smith Prophet Rev 2
    Korg Krone 88
    Roland JP8000
    Arturia Matrixbrute
    Arturia Microfreak
    Novation Peak
    Novation Ultranova
    Novation Bass Station II
    Moog Sub 37
    and 840HP of Eurorack modular.

    Here is most of it:

The only thing I really want now is a hammer action Nord electro.

  • Intro - Very Vangelis. :)

After the drums enter, I expect to hear lead vocals from either Trent Reznor or the ever-cheerful Mark Hollis.
    I’ll take that!

Conscientiously objecting! I wouldn’t be able to stop :dissapointed:

this this expenses are likely to be new monitors, and maybe a RYTM mk2 or a Monomachine.

  • great looking setup though @octatonic.

I'm in a different room in our house now - really compact, but I actually prefer it; everything is in arms-reach.

Been meaning to say something to you.
There is a very cool VESA mount thing for the Digitakt/Digitone.
    They are really stable.
Don't use screws longer than 7mm.

Whats the Argon like.   I have the desktop pre-ordered but I could fir a Hydrasynth module in instead (its a little wider, but I could make it work).  Getting tempted to cancel the Argon and get the Hydra....  Probably more to do with the wait than anything else though -Id appreciate some thoughts.

Im more a live player - and have an FA07, and Peak to partner the wavetable synth with.

  • The Argon is really surprisingly great. very straight forward to use, and sounds wonderful. If you're a player, worth noting that it has a very nice fatar keybed. Sounds and feels far more expensive than it is.

I've got a couple of vintage analogue synths, but I mostly use VSTi synths, and I run them through Nebula valve/preamp/line-in type programs.
If we are not ashamed to think it, we should not be ashamed to say it.

What's that thing on the bottom left, and what type of computer keypad is that?

The keyboard is a logitech 213 prodigy.... Lovely tactile keyboard. The lil thing at the bottom is a vector, which  is an ai robot :)

yeh - went for the module though as I couldnt find the width needed for the keyboard version - same reason why I didnt end up with a Minilogue XD.

Aside from the usual suspects for carpenter sounds ( prophet, juno, moog 1)
    - yamaha an1x is great ( like really great) and cheap even though they are getting more and more interest these last few years.
    - The reface CS is also great and great mini keys ( preset via an app which is either good or bad depending on your use)
    - And the microkorgs all have great va-s ( love the XL) and very easy to program too, shit keys.

-If you are looking for full sized keys 5 octaves or less the AN1x might be your ticket

-If looking for a mini keyboard that you can tweak quickly the Reface CS is a brilliant piece of kit.

-and if you want a powefull engine to use with an external master keyboard the Microkorg XL is a great all rounder quite easy to programm thanks to the app and with a lot of presets recall-able in one touch.

If you're loaded a juno might be the best option and they are so easy to sell with profit if you don't like it.

Above is the excellent Wasaphone MKII flour dredger microphone. It’s great for those vintage radio sounding vocals, I use this with a little bit of slapback echo from my Echoplex. It sounds bloody awesome for money.

Thought I’d revive this thread. During lockdown I sold off all of my pedalboard amongst other things and ended up with this lot including the retro desk. It’s a fairly basic synth/sampler setup (sampler is a 1010 Blackbox) for my needs it’s brilliant I don’t record anything it’s mainly for creating jams etc. The Mackie mixer really was a great purchase. I’ve got a couple of FX pedals in the aux send for the synth and Blackbox. I run my guitar through a HX Stomp and that also goes into the mixer. There are cables bloody everywhere. Next purchase is going to be an Arturia Drumbrute Impact to create instant beats. Can anyone recommend me some stands for my iLoud Micros?

    Arturia Minibrute 2
    Blackbox 1010
    HX Stomp
    iLoud Micros
Wasaphone MKII flour dredger mic for sparklehorse type vocals
    Mackie 802-VLZ4
    Beyerdynamic DT 880 Edition
    Digitech Polara & Dunlop Echoplex

What colour capes do you guys wear when you are playing your synths? I'm thinking of getting a gold or silver sparkle one.
