Some UK retailers are already listing it but only as pre-order. Could be interesting retuned in fifths, like a mandocello.

  • Interesting addition to the Fender lineup. Although I’ve never owned a tenor guitar I’ve been very impressed by the sounds that can be produced by them.

Totally. A great edition to any studio arsenal, and the kind of instrument that would probably have at least a couple of song ideas in it

  • Eastwood do a baritone tenor as well as a regular tenor electric I think. I've played acoustic ones, as a one time mandolin player, to see what they sounded like. They can lead you to different places alright but still sounded like an acoustic guitar to me. (I think I was looking for something that sounded different) but wouldn't rule one out in the future, if not for the droning notes you'd be able to get out of one. Not sure I'd go for an electric one though.

There's a proper fender video online for them now:

The 22.75 scale is probably bit on the short side for mandocello tuning, this dude has his tuned octave mandolin GDAE and it sounds OK to me. I find trad tenor tuning of CGDA a bit shrill.

  • Looking at the Fender video, they seem to be suggesting ukelele tuning as a jumping off point. Sounds good on the video. Can definitely see a use for it. Harmonically it sits in a bit of a different place from a longer scale guitar.
