The Irishman.

What's Hot
Anyone else watching/watched?

Decided at bed time, why not watch a 3.5 hour gangsta film...

Paused it 53 minutes in to go to the garage and get sweets.

Don't think I've seen many Scorcese films, but I like the way its shot.

+ Deniro.. though I'm pretty sure the ageing prosthetics are hilarious.

How did the rest of the cinema audience feel about that?

  • Brilliant film

  • Good film. But, De Niro looks like Robin Williams in the younger scenes with the digital ageing - which was a bit weird.

Started it tonight and turned off after an hour and a half.Too slow and I found the aging doofer a bit too distracting. I'll catch up with the rest tomorrow.

I’m pretty sure it’s actually a mo-capped Andy Serkis in half the scenes - serious Gollum vibes.

  • Just to add, although good, it didn’t have the chutzpah of his previous mob films. A little bit flat and lacking in memorable moments.

  • Loved it. The de-aging CGI on de Niro was a bit odd at times - I think it’s because we all know what he really looked like when he was younger. Great film though. Pesci is sublime.

Loved it, Pacino underacting as usual ;)

    Just finished it.

Ahh digital ageing! The scene where his truck breaks down and Pesci assists, I could have sworn it looked like DeNiro was wearing a rubber chin haha!

I thought it was great. Slow and stuff but was actually moved by the acting, and brilliantly shot.

It was good, though having read the book many years ago the ending seems a bit misleading.

I really enjoy the oeuvre of all the actors involved in this, but I’m not certain the movie has the sprawling elegiac values of, say, “Once Upon a Time in America”....

I do hope the de-aging thing doesn’t become a thing......Some of the scenes looked really hinky

  • I haven't seen it and don't want any spoilers so without giving too much away is it about an Irishman?

I see De Niro is going for the 70s Showaddywaddy and Mud revival look there with his platforms "that's right, that's right, that's right, that's right, I really love your tiger light...etc"

  • Finished it last night (watched it in two sessions). I liked it and it never dragged. Nicely played by all of the actors, I thought.

That was my thought too, but I did put it on after coming home from the pub.

Think I'll try watching it sober after reading the comments on here.
