Almost scored the winner in the 1966 World Cup Final. Former Spurs captain and scorer of four goals when we won 4-1 at Old Trafford in October 1972.

Ten years ahead of his time, according to Sir Alf. Sadly, his time is no more.

RIP.

Just seen this on the BBC site  - I was only 6 in 1966, so all my info of that day is retro based - But I recall him playing with Spurs in the early 70's - Always came across as one of the good guys - RIP Martin

Very sad and I was lucky enough to have seen him play at Tottenham with other greats such as Jennings, Chivers, Gilzean, Coates, Knowles etc. Great and solid player.

Apart from his achievements, we shouldn't forget that he moved to Tottenham in 1970 for a then British record fee of £200,000.
    RIP
