Vaughan Oliver

Died earlier today at the age of 62.  Created some of the most seminal record sleeve art of the last 40 years.  He was "the look" of 4AD Records - a uniquely recognisable style, impossible to mistake his work for anyone else's.  A real loss.

It’s quite a shock. I really enjoyed and was quite inspired by his work when I studied graphic design. I bought a lot of 4AD stuff because of the design work too. A real cultural loss and 62 is no age at all.

  • I loved his stuff, must have loads of it in my record collection. As has been said, it's pretty much impossible to mistake his work for anyone else's.
My wife asked me to stop singing Wonderwall.
    I said maybe.....

    Bloody hell, that's a shock.
I used to go out with a girl that went to college with him & she pointed out that I had a load of records with his sleeve designs.
Far too young & talented to go so soon.
