1st world problem - Bastard Milk Frothers

What's Hot
You know those things that heat and/or froth your milk for you lattes and caps?

I've been through 3 So far and all of them burn the milk to the bottom when heating. Admittedly I haven’t spent out on the 90 quid aerrocino ones and have stuck firmly to Mr Woos emporium on amazon but no one else mentions this in any reviews

and it’s pissing me of viewers I tell you

anyine else have this? Is it just a recognised down side of frother ownership

I’ve got a cheap electric one MrsTheWeary bought me from Aldi. Never burnt the milk but it’s hard to get the milk to a consistent texture ( you end up with a mixture of frothed and unfrothed milk). I've got one of those £1 Ikea hand held ones which doesn’t heat the milk and you won’t get a great texture but it does work and isn’t more work top clutter.
I had a stove top one but I couldn’t get it to do anything and managed to return it.
I rarely have milk in coffee but I quite like the idea of producing the odd cappuccino.

    I've tried two other types:
    1. A hand-held mini whisk thing.
    2. A think like a cafetiere with a wider mesh which you plunge the handle up and down to froth the milk.

I just heat milk in a pan then blast it in my blender. Could use a microwave but I don't have one.

James Hoffman ( who has a posh coffee channel on YouTube and won awards as a barista) has been known to use a clean caffetier to produce frothed milk.

I just put the cup in the microwave for 30 seconds then use a cheap mini milk whisk.  My coffee machine has a proper steaming spout but the microwave is quicker and easier.

Sounds like a lot of hassle to ruin a perfectly good cup of coffee :)

We got a Lavazza branded one two years ago. £50 and it's steel. Never burns. Not a bad performer.
    I love it.

  • Just get an espresso machine with steamer arm. No problemo.

The steamer should only take 10-15 seconds, is easier to clean and will give you vastly better results

Aeroccinos overheat/burn in one spot because there's a thermal fuse on the reverse which stops heat dissipating from that one area causing a hotspot.

The thermal fuse is a very poor design as it's single use but you can easily replace it with a self-resetting one.

Indeed. That’s why one has cream instead.

Just move whatever milk container you're using around so the heat isn't concentrated in one area.
