Maybe this should be in OT rather than M&M?

Most of the offcuts end up - eventually - on the fire one way or another.  But some get used for other things.

Like making a Xmas present for MrsTT ...

Bit of timber with corners & edges rounded over, and oiled.  Add some test tubes, held in place with pipe clips, and a few Swarovski crystals to make it look posh, and a hanger for the wall.

Wander around the garden collecting bits of plant, add water and bits of plant to each test tube, and there's a bit of living wall art.

    Walnut.
Yew, turned wet, and then re-turned once dry.
Wild cherry turned wet so that it distorts as it dries. There a musical joke there somewhere.
Yew, with a purple fault line across.

Yew, turned wet so that the sap colours in red.

I would have guessed the Walnut, but not the others.

Is that the Wild Cherry one at the front - light coloured in the main but with the dark grain running through it?  Nice!
