Here's a right beauty of a Les Paul it's a hand selected 1997 Gibson custom shop Les Paul custom Florentine plus model aka "bantam elite model" the name was changed from bantam elite in 1996 And given the Florentine name .. first off let me say this is a high end very well made Nashville custom shop guitar and not to be confused with the later run les Paul Memphis made "es"Florentine's gibson produce now , this guitar has an ebony fingerboard with gold hardware including gold grover rotomatics the ember burst  AAA flamed finish is just stunning with a nice 3d effect and amongst the nicest I've seen and the guitar is also not as heavy as a regular custom more inline with a normal early 00's standard but still has some nice weight  ... The neck sits some where inbetween an r9 and 60's slim it's a real comfy neck the condition of the guitar is fantastic for its age with only some light marks from very little use over the years ... Comes with its original custom shop historic case also the warranty/serial card and a purchase sales invoice from 1998 for £4k!! check it out ... Will look at trades/px for other Gibson /fender custom shop guitars only or £2650 firm.

    Crikey, that was a lot of money to pay for a guitar 20 years ago.

    Always wondered with these and the later ES Les Pauls.........do they sound like ;
    a) An airy light Les Paul
    b) a rockier es 335
        Which side of the fence do they fall ?

    It's construction is similar to a 339 I guess with a centerblock it's a Les Paul sound with more of an edge to it

    Wow!!  I moved to London at the end of '97 and was a regular in the Denmark St area.  I spent a lot of time in Turnkey and for the first few months I lived there (end 97/early 98) every time I went there I stopped and drooled a little at a figured, darkburst florentine LP which lived in a case on the wall above the stairs just before the entrance to the guitar department.  I've seen a few since then, but never one with that type of burst and figuring..... yours matches my memory perfectly and my heart skipped a wee bit when I scrolled down and saw the Turnkey receipt.  I wonder if it's the same one!?  I don't recall them having any others at the time, not out on display at least.  Aside from the sentimental 'good ol' days' memories of that general era, it's one of my favourite looking Lesters ever.  Love it!
