Squier wiring query (humbuckers)

Greetings all,
Ive taken on a ‘quick’ repair for a friend. Its a 9 yr old HH Squier strat that wasnt making any sound - well, amp at full volume and only a smidgen of sound coming out.

Anyway, im mostly happy with sorting the wiring but the pickups have got me stumped. They are 2 wire (red and white) +gnd, and there is also a 5way blade switch.

There are no identifying marks on the pickups either, which are uncovered with one slcrew/one pole coil each.

So, my questions
1) how do i identify which wire is which (red/white)
2) how would i wire the two pickups into a 5way switch, given they arent 4-conductor wired?

Cheers,
Adam

A bit more info as i thought id check resistances. I am assuming gnd=shield wire

    gnd-white 4.7k
    gnd-red 9.6k
    White-red 4.9k

and for bridge 4.2k for wht-red, nil for gnd-either

Does this sound like some gubbed pickups?
