My Ludwig maple classic Fab set in Gold Sparkle has finally arrived.
My first drum set was a Gretsch Renown in this finish- I just love the look of it.

I custom ordered this drum set before Christmas.
Sizes are 22x14, 16x16, 13x8.
I have an additional 14x14 floor tom coming next month.

Sounds killer- big and bold.

Kick and 3 toms, good. No snare or cymbals: are you just teasing us?

I have about 20 snares and multiple sets of Zildjian cymbals.
For most general use I'll be using a Ludwig LM402 Supraphonic or a DW Super Solid snare for gigs.
My favoured cymbals for rock are Zildjian Kerope's 15/18/19/20/22.

Nope, IME that's how drummers think.

IIRC, Oct has a collection of great snares and cymbals already and will just pick'n'mix from that.

Don't they call them drum kits anymore? Nice colour though, and you can't go wrong with Ludwig. Are you a drummer?
If we are not ashamed to think it, we should not be ashamed to say it.

Drum set is probably older terminology (50's and earlier) than drum kit.
Yes I started drumming about 8 years ago and have been gigging more as a drummer than a guitarist for the last 5,
I'm a much better guitarist though, been playing 30 years but there are more opportunities to gig as a drummer.

Yes, I have a couple of 'shell packs' that gets mixed with different snares and different cymbal sets.

I'm very much enjoying a 1xrack, 2x floor-tom setup, so glad to see I'm not the only one. Any plans to go 4-piece while you wait for the other tom to arrive?

Yes, I'm rehearsing with it this weekend in a 1 up, 1 down config.

Although I will have two floor toms I often only gig with one- stage sizes being what they are.
The 14" was a special order so it is coming later but it will probably be the main floor tom for gigs.

I am thinking about getting a 20" bass drum for even small gigs, maybe a couple more rack toms.

Sure signs of a true drummer. :)

Most guitarists will not detect any difference between snare drums, any more than they can between bass guitars.  :/

So does this mean more new drum gear posts? I gotta say as mental as your modular synth stuff is there's just something about drums! :)

You'll never tell the difference when they are buried in the mix

I've recently started to appreciate that choosing the right snare for a song is like choosing the right guitar for a song. Yes, they all work, but some fit better sonically!
