I loved his story hits : Coward of the County, Lucille, The Gambler, Ruby, etc. That gravelly voice, that sense of pathos.
    RIP Kenny.

Another legend, even if he is/was not on most people's radar.

Impossible to listen to Islands in the Stream without it putting a massive smile on my face. Joyous pop music. RIP.

I'm not a fan of country music, whatever the style, but I always liked Kenny Rogers.

Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In) is a great song and those 1970s hits were all memorable although I may have made fun of them a bit (I was insensitive to the fate of Becky in Coward of the County and I genuinely thought the lyric in Lucille was "with four hundred children and a crop in the field").

But great voice.  And a tremendous beard.  RIP.

Just dropped in is brilliant, there is cracking version by Sharon Jones complete with multiple key changes.
He had a long and varied career from jazz, folk, pop and then country.
    RIP Kenny.
