Song Royalties

Do we have any song royalty experts here on tFB?
I would like to establish how much of a (complete) track needs to be played on radio to trigger a royalty payment to the rights owner (for the avoidance of doubt, my motivation is to understand how to maximise royalty payments to artists)?

I realise you'd probably have thought of this, but the people to ask are the Performance Rights Society: https://www.prsformusic.com/licences/broadcasting-music-on-radio, though you might need to be opaque as to your thinking. 

Is the idea to have a show with lots and lots of minimum-length snippets, because I'm not sure who would want to listen to that.

I mean, me, I probably would , it sounds like the kind of nonsense I love, but, y'know, normal people.

Many thanks. I was thinking of adapting my approach to choosing songs for my music show to include 2 (possibly 3) artits for each track and just crossfade to blend them. That said I am yet to experiment with the idea!

If this is like a radio show and you don't play an entire song your listeners will demand your head.

Nothing more annoying than a DJ cutting down a favourite song.
