I fancy one of these too.  Great it has a 50’s neck.
I prefer single cut guitars as well so it’s really perked my interest.

  • The Rivolta Combinata I is a great shout, these guitars are QC'd to an unreal level. We've got a couple of feature videos detailing them, one where we put it up against the Gibson Jnr Tribute DC and the Reverend Sensei Jnr.....if you haven't seen it check it out, it might help offer some guidance! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pvbrTmlLCK0

Good video and thanks for posting.

The Rivolta was the pick of the 3 for my ears, the Gibson was good as well, but the Reverend seemed to have a bit too much of a midrange bump for my liking.

I agree, the Rivolta was certainly my pick too. From a player's perspective I really dig the C+ profile and they always play great straight from the box!

Nice the Rivolta holds up well, Reverand not to my liking too mushy but maybe a better P90 would add some more detail and as said that mid-range hump.

My only gripe with these Gibson is the stupid upcharge not to have the rout out and fit a big top-loading control scratchplate.
I have got a real thing these days about cynical manufacturing and stupid up charging.

    Rivolta for the honest win

Check out the rivolta combinata jr. I have the non jr version and it’s a fantastic guitar.

    That Rivolta is pure sex.

Man, my GAS for this Special is through the roof! It’s a shame that Gibson ask so much for their special, I do see a TV Yellow Les Paul in my future though, it’s just a waiting game now.
Tomorrow will be a good day.

I played a new Gibson Special in PMT and it was very nice indeed .Plugged into a Blackstar tube amp it was beyond sweet .Sadly smuggling a yellow 1300 quid guitar into the house may be stretching her good will to the limit as indeed might be the cheaper Epi version .The Vintage special looks rather good too .I am planning to convert a Squier SE burst body  into a Fender 'special" as I can do that by stealth ie not a new guitar coming in .The SE only cost 40 quid with a Marshall MG 10  that is better than I gave it credit  for  when I finally plugged it in for though hardly booteek.Even to my overly logical wife, a shiny 40 quid guitar with an amp and the usual string missing  is a bargain not to be missed .

I really want a Junior DC that is between entry level price point and custom shop price point. I'd love a TV yellow or cherry at say £1000-1600. The new custom shops are gorgeous but are ridiculous at £3000
Gibson USA factory is in that price range now. Looks like they've bumped the price up £200 to £1.4k this year tho
Custom shop models at Thomann for £1999:

I honestly don’t see what people like about the DC’s, I think they're ugly as sin! But then I have an overt, bordering on illegal love for anything Les Paul shaped!
Tomorrow will be a good day.

Thanks for sending these. The one I really want is also on the thomann website: https://www.thomann.de/gb/gibson_lp_junior_58_doublecut_tvy_vos.htm?sid=1db7b28d77729c0e676a9f14bf884a8d. But for £2800... I wish!

Someone has to like them  ;) only kidding, they get a lot of love but I just don’t like them, I am a die hard Les Paul shaped guitar lover (but I do have two strats, shhh!!!) and find it hard to stray from that style guitar. I wouldn’t turn my nose up at one if it was offered to me at a silly price but if it was red there’s no hope!
Tomorrow will be a good day.

I like the DCs, but the upper shoulder of the Rivolta just doesn't look right to me. I see what the design is aiming for, but it's not for me, and I bet they are cracking guitars.

I'd be interested in another colour.  I don't like TV yellow at all.

Dunno if there are any in stock in the UK?  I expect supply chains from China are in a state of extreme peril. Let us know if you track any down :)
