Open tunings on Guitar

Could be blindingly obvious - but Open D and open G are essentially the same thing for chord forms, just moved across one string. Not completely the same, but very much of an overlap...I'm finding it's good to dedicate a guitar to a tuning and leave it there to avoid confusion.

I’ve had one guitar in open C for a while now.  I only know a couple of tunes in it but really enjoy playing them!  Nice low sound.

Almost a baritone range...may be worth trying heavier strings if you don't already...

You mean for the tension?  Using 11s on a 000 Martin - not the shorter neck.  Feels fine for me, to be honest.
