I need a comprehensive selection of screws, etc - any idea where I can buy a (large-ish) assortment?

Even given the number I think they're taking the piss a bit with the price though... and typically for 'F All parts' - 0 in stock.

Or there's this, which comes in a ridiculously cheesy but slightly cute Telecaster-shaped box...

But more boringly and cheaper in this one...

eBay is normally my default for stuff like this.

You don't get to buy a ready made assortment, but you can find just about every size and type of screw available.  Buy a few different ones (typically in bags of 50) and even you should have enough to keep you going for a while.
    ;)

  • It would be good if someone could list specific size screws we could order from ebay?

I was really lucky back in the 90's at the New York Guitar show.  One of the stands had a large plastic box full of vintage screws and bits for something like $25.  I bought it straight away and then had to deal with GE Smith offering to buy it from me for about 5 minutes!

I buy a lot of mine from Crazyparts (https://www.crazyparts.de/parts-for-fender/hardware-for-strat/miscaccaged/index.php) or StewMac nowadays.

Yep. Typical Allparts - decent quality US stuff, but quite overpriced compared to the nearly-as-good alternatives. (And that's even if it's in stock...)

In fact, given the sort of things you're usually restoring, the cheaper Chinese tat might actually be more appropriate :).

    It's worth a trip to B&Q, you can get 'pick & mix screws' in £2, £4, & £6 bags.
    I needed some screws & bolts for a 4x10 cab & got everything I needed for £2.
Whether they have the 1/2 countersunk 1/2 roundhead style for pickguards....I'm not sure, but it's worth taking an hour to drive out to one.
Once we're 'allowed' to of course

Unfortunately B&Q screws aren't right for guitar work - pretty much all of them are the wrong threads, sizes and shapes, and the wrong colour plating. It's annoying, since guitar screws are expensive...
