advice: Bass Amp for home recording

Some might say the ultimate DI for bass is the Avalon U737 or perhaps it's little brother the U5.  But you'll be dropping something similar in price to the REDDI mentioned above.

Just an idle thought - are you certain the monitoring (of your Kemper) is able to  properly reflect bass tones ?

Wow! That's the first time I've heard of this device and until TH-U won me over fairly recently, I was such a massive fan of the Atomic Amplifire.

The Amplifire only has one bass amp model which is the SVT (well, it also has a Bassman but, you know) so I wonder if this box has models that the Amplifire doesn't have or if its other settings aren't based on specific amps but just generally modelled tube amp style sounds.

Given that the page says "coming Spring 2019" and nothing seems to have ever happened with it, it appears it may have been vapourware but if it ever does get made I'd have high hopes that it would be good considering how good other Atomic modelling products are.

Here is a demo showing all the recommended settings in the manual - a little bit of everything in a mix. Harris / Squire / Lynott / Jamerson / Butler etc etc

Just saw on their Facebook within the last hour that the Bass Box is now available.

Quite an amazing coincidence that it hadn't really been mentioned by Atomic for well over a year then just a few days after you bring it up on here it gets released!

I carrried a Hartke Pre-amp DI in my case for ages. One day I took it out it was in bits. Well the footswitch broke off. There's a constant noise now. Guess i'll get it looked at sometime.

A Designs Reddi would be great but you can also get the Kush Audio plug in version which does a good job of fattening up any DI’d bass

My setup is a Cali76 >> TC Electronic Spark >> Aguilar Tone Hammer. The combination of the latter two was recommended by Justin Mehldal-Johnsen as a great way of getting amp tones from Motowny B15 to cranked SVT while going DI. Works perfectly.
