Hi All, I have recently acquired what is to me THE dream, it is very much a players grade guitar which is what I am always after (not interested in museum pieces!) This is FAR from all original (which I knew when I bought it) but I can actually play this one without fear of devaluation!

So basically this is a 58 Standard with original finish and no breaks, pretty much everything else is a replacement on it (except the tuners which have been re-tipped and the wiring harness). The PAFs in it date from 61 and the bridge and tail piece are also later (non ABR).

I am aware of "issues" with it so not really looking to be pulled apart by the "experts" out there! simply sharing as this has given me a lot of joy over the past week or two, and if you are like me you love perving on images of a well used/abused guitar enjoy!

Amazing and wonderful to see a '58 goldtop that hasn't been turned into another dubious "Burst".

    Very nice.

Come on man - don't be making us clicky linkys... These are testing times, after all., and our patience is wearing thin generally..

Gorgeous looking old Gibson, must have survived hundreds of gigs, ( do you know anything about its history?). Bet that it sounds great, I’m green with envy.

  • it sounds pretty awesome I won't lie! BUT I traded two very nice Les Pauls for this as part of the deal, I would say they both sounded equally as good in their own way. The older stuff I have had/got just has more of a vibe.

Hi @Jonnysixstring - That looks so cool and desirable - Not sure why but I always favour the gold top version to a burst - I know both are nice, but just something I like about a gold top - Congrats and nice to see it will be played - Enjoy it
