It’s for my lad, he’s at uni and wants something decent to tide him over while he’s studying. He’s a fan of Taylor and Martin guitars because of a love of Lindsay Buckingham and Eric Clapton, so something in that vein would be awesome, but he’s open to anything. Hit me up!

*not interested in mahogany topped guitars. Spruce or Cedar is where its at. Must be a solid top.

No probs. They’re based on the Martin 15 series but think the equivalent Martin is around £800 second hand.

I’ve got a Johnson Carolina 000-28 copy and a recording king hd-28 copy and both punch well above their weight. Given that, in your shoes I’d be looking at something like this:

How about a Tanglewood Parlour TRV 73 VS E (snappy name!). Its one of their 'T' branded models which I believe is Tanglewood's higher end models - about £450 new. Good nick overall but a couple of dings on the front (lower bout) - nothing through the gloss. Nice preamp.

Anyone got any Recording Kings going? He’s got his eye on these as they’re not straight up copies, cheers Fifty9 for that heads up.

I can highly recommend the Recording King RO-T16. I got mine 2nd hand for £240. Unfortunately mines not for sale
