Just saw this - very sad. For anyone who hasn't seen it, check out his Old Grey Whistle Test session on YouTube: it's a classic.

This is a pretty good obit: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-52155227.

I didn't know the thing about the stutter, or his benefit gig with Ed Sheeran - props to both of them.

He gave us some great songs - RIP, and thoughts with his loved ones.

Justments is one of my all time favourite albums and I used to play out his tracks when I used to DJ.

RIP Bill, thanks for the great tunes

I must admit I know really zip about Bill apart from his two best known songs but they are amazing songs and what a legacy to leave even if he’d done nothing else.
    RIP.

Didn’t he do ‘someone to lean on’ too? Talented guy . Lovely day really gets you in a good frame of mind on a sunny summer day

I can't say I every got beyond the handful of his best tunes but, yeah, a couple of them are about as good as anything in rock and pop.

I'm familiar with several versions of Grandma's Hands but didn't realise before that it's a Wither's song. I associate it with Gil Scott Heron and thought it was his, I saw Gregory Porter singing it a couple of years ago.
Beautiful song, I'll have to listen to the original ( basically Booker T and the MGs behind him from looking it up).
