So I fancy getting a new looper  for some home practicing now I'm working from home for the foreseeable future.

I used to have a Boss RC-20 which was quite good. Are the single sized ones the RC-1, RC-3 any good ? What else is on the market ? I'm sure I've read that TC, Digitech etc do small footprint loopers ?

  • The new boss rc10r looks the business.... drum loops included. I have a ditto x4 and a beatbuddy, its brilliant but takes up a lot of space and quite expensive. If i didnt have them thats what I would go for.

That RC10R looks freakin' awesome ! You're messing me up now, I wanted simple but GAS is starting to take hold.

  • I have an RC10r, if you want drum loops too it’s an excellent practice tool.

MXR Clone Looper is great. Half speed and reverse at the press of a button, record reverse then flip, record normal speed then slow down for a bass octive.

Simple to use and excellent around quality.

The RC10R has some problems at the moment that you should be aware of.

Yeah that’s a long whinge looking for problems. I accept it for what it is. Set the rhythm style and bpm, and the redord a loop over it. Record another loop for section B. Play solos over them. Simple and a lot of fun.

I bought son a Digitech Jamman Solo XT a couple of years ago. He reports it has some operational quirks that take a bit of getting used to but it 'records' at very good quality.

This looks great, took me a while to figure out that the volume knob is also a footswitch! How durable do you reckon that is? Withstand some heavy boots?

If you're after a small footprint, you can't get much smaller that a Hotone Wally+. It's tiny, even smaller than the Mooer type small pedals. But it can hold 11 separate loops of up to 30 mins each. I don't think it would work very well on a gigging board, it's too small, but it's great for practice.
