Recording performances at home

I'm sure many of us are now looking at home amps, Reaper, DAWs or things like Kazoom where you can play along with other people and have some fun.

I have a lot of musician friends who are putting up on footage of themselves, mainly on Fb or YT, playing along to well-known tracks or backing tracks, and I'd love to join in OR/ record myself playing along with a track, ideally with decent visuals as well as decent audio.

Also, I work for a music company and there are a lot of talented musicians there spanning all generes and the people now working from home are putting footage up of them playing upbeat tunes and I'd like to be able to do that or once again, join in separately i.e. add my inclusion, in time, to theres.

Any ideas of either a good and easy way of doing this and preferably, a cheap way? I'm not interested in filming me via a mobile phone with the music coming from another source as I want a good sound balance. If the software, device has inbuilt fx, stuff, fine but ideally, I'll be recording straight off my amp rig and at a decent volume.

Zoom hand held devices or anything like that?

Any ideas?

There are many ways of doing this. Here's my thoughts...
If you can record direct to the PC then do that.
How many mics, instruments, players?

For a simple mic + guitar setup Focurite Solo USB module + Audacity
For more instruments Focusrite 2i2 or 4i4 USB module + Cubase 10.5

For the video lots of options from simple HD webcam or iPhone to mid and high-end cameras.
DSLRs work very well, ideal if 'tethered' via USB3.0
USB in is the easiest, or record video to SD card and then import.
HDMI or HD-SDI need an interface.

For editing / assembling use Da Vinci Resolve 16 (Free )

I use a Logitech C920 as do lots of folks for video, it has the ability to use the built in mic, a line in source or audio from your DAW, in my case Studio one, I usually multitrack the guitars and do 2 or video takes in QuickTime them  Edit in Adobe elements .

I was looking into this after @spark240 mentioned it in another thread. Unfortunately those webcams (and any other decent ones) are sold out everywhere at the moment

There are at least half a dozen on eBay at the moment.....might get a 2nd one ..to use with OBS...

I think you can use Movie Maker also......plus probably others ?

Anyone using a Zoom Q2N camera/mic?

They look good and are on sale at Amazon?

Check reviews....I think they suffer from low light levels a bit...
