That is beautiful @axisus, golden era stuff. I used to work in a bike shop when those were around and fox were still a high spec, non oem supplier.

    Since you insist :)

This is my good bike. Custom built Mondraker Dune XR.
Bought it to replace my downhill bike, and for more gravity orientated stuff, but I was completely surprised with how well it climbs, so much so, it gets ridden far more than I thought it would. Managed over 1000 miles on it last year.
Still leaves me grinning every time I ride it.

Devinci Django. This is my old good bike, which got a bit neglected last year due to the purchase of the Dune, but I resurrected it for winter trail duties, and it's reminded me just how fun short travel is. Can go just as fast as the Dune until the trail gets a bit rougher, then it quickly reminds you, it's not got as much suspension :D

And the bored after work but can't be bothered driving anywhere fitness machine aka a Merlin Cordite. Bought solely for fitness reasons, but has been the only source of riding during the lockdown, as local trails are pretty dull, and busy with walkers.

I also have a 26" jump bike buried in the shed, along with the old completely knackered 26" hardtail.

@drofluf could you let me know what the advantages are on the single speed over multi geared bikes. I've recently converted my Specialized Sirrus to eight speed from twenty four because I prefer the simplicity of it, and a single speed would be right up my street, I reckon. I tend to only use two gears in general, so would love to hear your experience of riding a single speed.

there is a delicious looking fixed marin pine Mountain on eBay - no suspension, steel frame, big tyre mountain bike. Yummy.

Haro Master frame from about 95? Talked myself out of that now as there is no u-brake mount on the chainstays. Other than that looks pretty similar.
It is a Haro, not sure which. Not proper old skool, I used to have GT & a Skyway at one point. This was my old basher for years. All the bits rotted so I cleaned it up and rebuilt it as a mid / old skool sort of tribute thing before bits became way too expensive.

This is my other one, GT BOX series racer.

It may not exactly be porn but i've had it 30 years, done thousands of miles on it, fallen off it when pissed and it's as comfy as fook. Oh and nobody is likely to nick it.

@breakstuff Firstly it's a lot of fun! If I'm honest part of what attracted me was the niche nature of it but more tangible benefits are less maintenance, simplicity and greater reliability. You have to adapt your riding style a little to keep more momentum to help you back up the hills. When I was doing group rides I found I was more or less in the same position in the group whether I was geared or single speed. In fact I think I was faster up some climbs because you have to keep pedalling.

Actually there are 4 speeds not one: sit, stand, push and puke. :)

Singlespeed is never being in the wrong gear :)
