Thank You Parcelforce, for ridding the world of a PRS.

So, I did a deal on here over the weekend, fortunately with a Fretboarder that's been here as long as I have, and a top man who I've done 4 or 5 deals with over the yrs.

I've always wanted a PRS DGT and this one was bling free, subtle and lovely.

Shipped in dual wall cardboard, lined with exp poly pieces everywhere and then inside a Hiscox.

Yet Parcelforce managed, quite incredibly, to do this:

Bearing in mind it was packed better than anyone could have packed it, I simply don't know. It's in a hard Hiscox too. You'd have struggled to do if if you'd wanted to break it.

    Gutted for you.

They're tough guitars, it must have taken quite the effort to do that.

I've taken the strings off now as instructed and would also thank Neil @IvisonGuitars for his wisdom. It's going to him to be sorted. Ironically, it's a clean break so very fixable - just annoying.

I had an agency summer job in a Parcelforce depot one summer. It was horrific. You had 40 minutes for a two man team to empty a full 40ft artic, I was saving to buy a Strat but decided I couldn’t stand it anymore after one of the full timers burst open a box of golf balls and then spent the rest of the day hurling them at the back of agency staffs heads as we were tipping trucks.
    Screw that

Was the case damaged? Or the shipping carton ?
Your heart must have sunk when you saw that.

Not a mark on it. Not one mark.

If the contents of a courier van are not well restrained and the driver makes an emergency stop, there is no telling how far things will shift or whether one lumpy thing could fall directly onto another.

I had a six string bass thoroughly destroyed by impact damage. Whatever it was struck so hard that several of the frets were popped out. (I have some photographs somewhere.)

If the shipping carton had anything printed on it or on the address label to suggest that the contents were a PRS guitar, it is tempting to imagine that a jealous and/or skint person might derive pleasure from destroying the guitar.
    Be seeing you.

In a Hiscox case as well. Not good at all.

    @Gassage - Is it salvageable?

Crikey - I have to assume there must be some movement of the guitar in the case - If the case is not marked and ditto the box, then there must have been enough movement inside the case for some 'whiplash' when dropped or similar - But for a PRS to split there is a rare event - Why the Hiscox case and not the original PRS case

At least with Neil you are in good hands

Shocking to see that. Makes me think now that if I do buy any 2nd hand guitars, that it would be worthwhile for me to pick it up personally.

    Wow, that is some break!

Bloody Parcel Farce have done a right number on it, lucky it was a clean break, but f**k I would be pissed if the had been mine.

How to massively devalue a PRS in one foul break, the bastards!

Where do you stand with any any compensation from Parcelforce? What level of insurance did it have?

I got an empty feeling in my guts when I saw that. I would be so upset if that happened to an instrument of mine.

Are you absolutely certain the package was sealed in the same way when it arrived as when it was sent?

I find it hard to believe that could have happened inside a Hiscox case without the case being substantially cracked around the mid-point as well. They’re just not flexible enough to allow it.

I’ve twice come across shipping damage that absolutely could not have happened inside the box, for what it’s worth - although they did both go through customs.
