. . . . that makes newbies post threads about guitars and FX there?
The headings for each forum are quite clear on the left side-bar, but there may be overlapping topics under, for example, Gear, and Playing which present grey areas to even experienced forum members.
Many online car clubs, for example, lock certain topics on their website to paid up members only, but this website is open, and without any Forum restrictions that I am aware of.
Is there some reason, unknown to me, why some newbies post messages about guitars, FX, etc, in the Politics Economics forum? I am baffled as to what is leading them there.
Perhaps, in their enthusiasm to get their messages across, the newbies do not spend a few minutes to navigate the Fretboard first.

Maybe they accidentally change the dropdown menu for which subforum to post in? It's easily done, I've done it and I've worked as an admin/mod on forums for 15 years.
Anyway, my theory is that new posters don't realise that when posting a new Discussion the software defaults to the subforum they are currently in; people join to post a specific question, discover Pand E, don't come back out of it then do their new Discussion. They also won't realise they can shift it using the edit cog.
Exactly on all counts

LOL given for comment ( although anyone used to the large US forums might expect to find a PandW section. Very much an aside - I was watching a youtube video about churches in the USA and some very much small arenas so you see how serious PandW can be for musicians, it's not just playing Kumbaya on an Eko acoustic).
