Symmetry of the 43 Octatonic Scales & 43 Tetrachords by Dave Creamer
This book on music theory is being talked about in higher circles. Could it possibly be the modern equivalent of George Russell's Lydian Chromatic Concept of Tonal Organization. Obviously, to be a serious theory book, they need to have a long name.
It's obviously heavy going and not for the faint hearted, but it looks interesting.
There's a preview of the book on google books.
