I have an itch for another hollow/semi electric guitar. Must have a nice rounded C or soft V neck. Skinny and "Slim taper D" necks needs NOT apply...

Newer re-issues or older archtop blues machines. Budget is up to 600£ but could up it for something special :D

Interested to see what is out there...

Chunkier necks for such guitars that I’ve found in that price range and good value are peerless. Have a flavour for everyone too be it casino, 335, gretschy, jazzer

It will be out of your £500 budget, but I’ve got a stunning 2003 Tokai 335, with upgraded OX4 pickups. Comes in a genuine Tokai hard case too. Pro luthier setup too.

    £750

I have a 1962 reissue limited edition Epiphone Sorrento - the one with genuine Gibson mini humbuckers. Hard case, certificate of authenticity etc

As with most of these, there are finish stress cracks around the headstock from the last time it was shipped - the headstock is heavy, flexes the neck when jolted and the finish cracks. The wood is perfect. Not a good one for entrusting to Parcelfarce...

If it’s your thing, I have lots of pics, and I’m sure we could sort something out. I’m open to an offer around £425.

Thanks @impmann I have played one of these, lovely guitars but the neck is a bit on the slim side if I remember rightly

It’s not a baseball bat, but equally not a lolly stick - but if you are after a 50s feeling neck, it won’t be right.
    Good luck.

I have a '98 Ibanez Artstar AS80 that I may be looking sell. I'm sorry but I couldn't confidently tell you the neck shape, the fretboard gives me more than I need to worry about.

Pulled from the Ibanez wiki https://ibanez.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_neck_types
    Neck type: AS
    Years: 1997-2002
    Scale length: 628mm/ 24¾"
    Width at nut: 43mm
    Width at last fret: 57mm
    Thickness at 1st fret: 20mm
    Thickness at 12th fret: 22mm
    Radius: 305mmR/ 12"

Sorry if this a slim taper D. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    Cheers
    Jools

I have three LPs all with chunky necks and a Sheraton with a big neck too.  It took me five minutes to feel ok with the slim D profile neck on my new Casino. Try one.

I have a DeArmond (Guild) Starfire special. Sunburst. Made in Korea... seriously good condition. Neck feels pretty chunky to me but it’s all very subjective I guess... you’re welcome to try it if you’re interested?? Regards. Ian.

I have an itch for another hollow/semi electric guitar. Must have a nice rounded, handful of a neck. "Slim taper D" needs not apply...

The Peerless semis definitely are thicker than the slim taper necks. Also if you get lucky with the price, consider the Edwards 335 like this:

    https://www.thefretboard.co.uk/discussion/116465/edwards-335-made-in-japan-e-sa-125-lts-with-wolfetone-pafs-sold

As Benecol says in his profile, the neck is thicker than the slim taper. DOn't have the measurements of my old one to hand but certainly thicker than my Dot.

The current Hofner Verythins probably won't work for you as mine is 20.5mm and 22.4mm neck thickness at 1st and 12th frets respectively.

Shed nearly built so I am back in the game. Still looking for a semi with a nice rounded (not thin/slim/flat) neck profile. Epis seem to be in my target price range now, so a Dot, Sheri, Casino, Riviera or similar....

If I was you I would look at the Ibanez  AS80 that Jools has and learn to love the neck ;they aren't that slim but they are a really good sounding guitar
