No agenda, just interested. Doesn't seem to be much online. Anybody?

Beyond Wikipedia there's not much I know of that's all in one place. You'll find a few interesting nuggets if you search 'history' (thread titles) on the EB forum, and there's a site that's specifically about the details of the early basses:
