What a great idea. I would often not bother to hear a guitar plugged in, or only very briefly. If I liked the sound and feel of it unplugged it was usually a good guitar. In a store you often end up getting plugged in to an amp you don't know or is inappropriate for the sounds you like; unplugged is often the best decider.

yes and also if is sounds considerably different plugged in - it is much harder to play such a guitar (it just feels inadequate)
